Addiction to Junk Food

There are people in America and the UK that have no clue about even the most basic concepts of nutrition.  And, in many cases it is becoming generational.  Furthermore, they are so addicted to junk food that they have lost any interest in anything else.  They have become slaves to junk food, like a chain smoker is a slave to tobacco, or a heroin addict is to heroine.

Here is a sad case of a girl who is totally addicted to junk food, can´t stop and is on the express train to a very early death.

Teen girl rushed to hospital for eating nothing but chicken nuggets for 15 years

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) If you ate only McDonald’s chicken McNuggets every day for practically every meal, what do you think your health condition would be like in 15 years? One British girl, 17-year-old Stacey Irvine, recently found out the hard way that such a diet severely destroyed her health when she was rushed to the hospital after collapsing and having severe difficulty breathing.

Yahoo! News reports that the young factory worker had been eating practically nothing else besides McDonald’s chicken McNuggets since she was about two years old. Shockingly, Stacey has also never once eaten a single fruit or vegetable, according to the same report, which has left her grossly deficient in practically every single vitamin and mineral in existence.

This horrific diet finally caught up with Stacey, however, when she fell over at work and had to be rushed to the emergency room. Doctors discovered severely-swelled veins on the young girl’s tongue, and quickly diagnosed her with anemia. They subsequently put her on an “emergency vitamin regimen,” according to reports, and warned her that if she does not change her dietary habits, she will soon die.

But Stacey’s addiction to fast food nuggets is so severe that she still apparently refuses to eat anything else besides them, except for the occasional piece of toast or potato chips. And Stacey’s mom, Evonne, has apparently tried everything to get her daughter to eat other foods, including starving the girl at one point, but to no avail.

“She’s been told in no uncertain terms that she’ll die if she carries on like this,” Evonne is quoted as saying by CBS News. “But she says she can’t eat anything else. I’m at my wit’s end. I’m praying she can be helped before it’s too late.”

McDonald’s chicken McNuggets, of course, are made from a so-called food product called “mechanically separated chicken,” which is created from chickens that have been “stripped down to the bone, and then ‘ground up’ into a chicken mash, then combined with a variety of stabilizers and preservatives, pressed into familiar shapes, breaded and deep fried, freeze dried, and then shipped to a McDonald’s near you.”

McDonald’s chicken McNuggets also contain dimethylpolysiloxane, an antifoaming agent composed of the same silicone chemicals used in cosmetic products (http://www.naturalnews.com/032820_Chicken_McNuggets_ingredients.html). A federal judge put it well back in 2003 when he called McNuggets a “McFrankenstein creation of various elements not utilized by the home cook.”

Here is an article about how LA schools have had to water down their new healthy lunch program, because of resistance from students.  This is a classic case of addiction to garbage which leads to a rejection of good food.  Unfortunately, parents and the community bear a lot of the blame, because so many students are introduced to junk food addiction at an early age.  Furthermore, one of the arguments put out is that schools can only serve what students like.  Since, when in our society have be let young people do what ever they want.  If students should be allowed to choose whatever they want to eat, even if it kills them, then I propose that students be allowed to skip school if they want.  How about drink alcohol and do drugs?  If we are so into choice, then lets treat children like adults with all of the privileges and responsibilities that adults have.  Crazy right?  And crazy to believe that students should have the last say on what they eat.

The article goes on to mention that students skip meals at school because they hate the healthy food.  I say let them.  Obesity is rampant, especially among the junk food crowd.  Most of them could do with skipping a meal or two.  Fasts are healthy and detoxifying, and they are not going to starve.  When children get hungry enough, they will eat.

LA school district students would rather starve than eat healthy menu items

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) A massive school lunch menu overhaul implemented by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in California last year has been met with widespread resistance among district students. CBS 2 in Los Angeles reports that many students are actually choosing to go hungry rather than have to eat revamped, healthier meal offerings like vegetarian curry or quinoa salad.

Last summer, LAUSD’s school board voted to eliminate unhealthy meal options like corn dogs, processed chicken nuggets, and sugar-laden flavored milk beverages in favor of alternative, healthier meal options that incorporate more whole, unprocessed food items. The decision was inspired by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s show Food Revolution, which at one time featured an LAUSD school on its show, until the permit was revoked.

Many people initially praised LAUSD’s decision to alter its lunch menus as a giant step forward towards improving the health of the district’s schoolchildren. But few anticipated that the students would ultimately reject these new offerings en masse, choosing instead to smuggle in unhealthy snacks from home, and even trade things like ramen noodles on newly formed and thriving “black markets.”

Reports indicate that many students have been throwing away their entire meals, including their unopened cartons of plain milk product. And those that are unable to snag a high-demand item from the junk food black market to replace those meals were simply not eating, which was leading to widespread malnutrition at many of the district’s schools.

Conditions have gotten so bad that the district is now planning to re-implement many of the menu items that it offered previously, but with supposedly healthier ingredients. A healthier type of pizza will be returning to lunchrooms, for instance, as will hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Dishes like brown rice cutlets and quinoa salad, on the other hand, are getting nixed.

No matter what LAUSD serves, it is required to serve a certain amount of it to students, and those students are required to accept that amount, even if they do not want it. This is why so much of the undesired food has ended up in trashcans rather than given to somebody else. But ABC 7 News in Los Angeles recently reported that some students are now volunteering to help give these leftover meals to those in need.
