The video below is Sen. Warner’s new plan “create jobs”. is to use targeted tax credits to encourage businesses to employ more workers. While this idea is actually fairly good, among many very bad government ideas, it still does not understand that the economywill grow best when productive resources stopping being continually funneled away from the productive sector of the economy (the private sector) to the wasteful government sector of the economy. In the end, this tax credit is little more than a tax payer funded subsidy to businesses, with the assumption that government knows how to allocate finite economic resources better than business does. Why not just dramatically reduce the size of government-and its attendant waste-, reduce taxes, and let companies expand and hire again? After all, most companies would prefer less taxes, than to have high taxes and an occasional government subsidy thrown at them.
